Michael Proper Starts ClearCenter And Begins A New Chapter for ClarkConnect

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Salt Lake City, UT, (Wednesday, July 1, 2009) — Leveraging the ClarkConnect distribution now known as ClearOS, ClearCenter will provide an open service delivery platform uniquely tailored to fit the IT needs of small business and distributed environments that is simple, secure & affordable.

After starting DirectPointe in 2000 and growing it to become the worlds #1 MSP in 2008, Michael Proper was convinced the industry needed as cost effective and scalable solution. And it was 'clear' that ClarkConnect was the foundation to build a truly open platform that IT service providers and enterprise IT professionals could build a scalable service offering from.

The ClearCenter solution will have two components:  ClearOS (historically known as ClarkConnect) now provided by the ClearFoundation, an open source network and gateway server distribution and ClearSDN, a service delivery network platform with updates, new feature modules, technical support and cloud based services such as remote server backup, dynamic DNS, to name a couple.

As an open source Linux distribution, ClearOS has achieved over 118,000 registered deployments in 80 countries and 21 languages.  ClearOS is the perfect combination of technical excellence and flexible architecture, so it can be tailored to fit the needs of virtually any small business or distributed office environment.  Each element of ClearOS from virus protection to intrusion detection employs commercial grade technology that can be included or excluded according to the requirements of the local environment.  ClearSDN also offers updates and services selected by the local IT administrator as appropriate.

Simple

ClearOS is managed through an intuitive web-based interface for the entire system including all components and services.  The ClearOS management console dynamically exposes the ClearOS features depending upon what modules have been deployed in a given environment.  The ClearOS server can integrate with existing technologies and servers on-site without conflict.  ClearOS was designed to be deployed with ease.

Secure

With over 118,000 registered deployments, ClearOS has been proven to be a secure and robust gateway on the network edge.  With commercial grade firewall and intrusion detection available with constant upgrades from ClearSDN, it becomes the networks first defense against malware, viruses and hackers.  With remote server backup, your data is always protected and secure on redundant data servers.  The ClearSDN intrusion logs can track movement and file changes throughout your network.  These functions keep your data and information secure, audited and backed up at all times.  Your network is safe with ClearOS.

Affordable

An open source distribution, ClearOS software is available free for download and can be adapted as needed for specific environments.  With ClearSDN, updates, new features, and services are available, a-la-carte, at very competitive rates.  Using ClearOS and ClearSDN, your IT management costs are extremely low when compared to systems assembled using fragmented elements from a variety of both hardware and software vendors. ClearCenter offers a dramatic decrease in network management costs.

About Point Clark Networks / ClarkConnect

PointClark Networks started as a concept on the back of a napkin on the campus of Carnegie Mellon University.  In May 2000, the company moved from concept to reality and started developing solutions for the broadband server/gateway market.  The core team was formed with engineering and technologists from Queen's University.

The first version of ClarkConnect Service Delivery Network (now know as ClearSDN) was launched to the public in November 2000.  This initial release included a basic software update service along with a dynamic DNS service.  Today, ClearSDN includes dozens of unique services to help its partners, consumers and businesses get the most out of their gateway/server technology.
