Richard S. Dick, Ph.D. Joins ClearFoundation Team

ClearFoundation is pleased to announce that Richard S. Dick, Ph.D. has joined the team as Chief Data Scientist. He will lead the foundation’s efforts on current and future initiatives involving digital identity, healthcare, family/community histories, and distributed/decentralized database architecture.

Richard is an internationally recognized expert with more than 30 years experience in the electronic health record (EHR) industry. He had created or consulted for more than 200 organizations in the healthcare space where he worked on technical architectures, strategic planning and extensive business development for many of today’s most successful healthcare IT and EHR initiatives.

He has designed and architected some of the largest and most complex systems in all of healthcare IT helping to define modern systems encompassing electronic health records, electronic medical records, and personal health records.

While at the National Library of Medicine (NLM), Richard served as Deputy Chief of the Bibliographic Services Division (MEDLINE) and also as the project leader responsible for pioneering the development of the Integrated Library System (ILS), a major research program at the NLM.

Richard has a unique blend of education and experience that have brought him international recognition for advancing electronic health record technologies as a visionary, a designer/architect, and as an industry spokesperson.

Richard earned his Ph.D. in Medical Biophysics and Computing from the University of Utah studying under Homer R. Warner, M.D., Ph.D.
